WHY YOU NEED IT:
Using the Equilixir spanner makes it easier to open and close the cap of the 25 Litre Equilixir polycan. This is particularly important when swapping the cap that the 25 Litre polycan is shipped with for the tap cap that allows for convenient dispensing. One must ensure that the tap cap is tightly secured on the container using the spanner to prevent leakage.
FULL INSTRUCTIONS FOR INSTALLING THE TAP CAP ON THE 25L EQUILIXIR POLYCAN:
1. The original cap that your Equilixir polycan is delivered with should be replaced with the tap cap provided while the polycan is in the upright position.
2. We recommend you use a 6-edge spanner tool for 60mm caps to assist with removing the original cap. It is best to use the spanner tool specifically made for the 25L Equilixir polycan, since 60mm caps can vary in design. This spanner tool is available for purchase from https://equilixir.co.za/.
3. Before replacing the original cap with the tap cap first check that there is a seal inside the tap cap and that the inside of the tap cap is free of debris. If there is dust or debris inside the tap cap simply dust it out. Avoid using water, because water contamination inside the tap cap can cause spoilage of the Equilixir. If the tap cap does not contain a seal do not replace the original cap with the tap cap, since doing so will result in Equilixir leaking from the tap cap.
4. Before screwing on the tap cap make sure that it is properly lined up to avoid screwing it on skew, which will result in Equilixir leaking from the tap cap. Observe the tap cap at eye level as you carefully screw it on by hand to ensure that it screws on level.
5. Once the tap cap has been screwed on level and relatively tightly by hand, use a 6-edge spanner tool to tighten it as tightly as possible. A level, tight fit will prevent leakage from the tap cap. If the tap cap is screwed tightly onto the polycan, but the outlet of the tap itself is not facing downward when the polycan is positioned onto its unlabeled front side, correct the position of the tap in the following way: Return the polycan to the uptight position and then twist the tap itself (not the cap and not the lever that opens the tap) into the correct position. Be careful not to open the cap, nor the tap lever. Once the tap is twisted into the correct position you may lie the polycan on its unlabeled front and slowly open the tap to dispense Equilixir from it.
6. Store the original cap in a zip lock bag in case you need it later for some reason. To replace the tap cap with the original cap please follow the same principles as those in the above instructions.
HOW TO DISPENSE EQUILIXIR FROM THE TAP CAP INTO THE MEASURING CUP:
Open the tap slowly and gradually. If you open the tap too fast you risk dispensing too much Equilixir. Dispense slowly while observing the level of liquid pouring into the measuring cup at eye level. Close the tap fully once you have measured the desired amount. Allow the product to drip into the measuring cup until done. Make sure the dripping stops. Always return the 25L polycan to the upright position after dispensing Equilixir to reduce the risk leakage during storage.
